Description

While other boat builders were cutting quality to increase profit, Henri Wauquiez insisted that

anything with his name on it be beautiful, top quality in construction, and use the finest materials. Teak and mahogany are used throughout the interior. High quality resins and generous layups of fiberglass were used throughout the construction of the boat.

“Orca” is a 1977 Amphora model located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. She is a Coast Guard Documented vessel with current documentation. Wauquiez Amphoras were built for the world cruiser in search of a slightly smaller boat that the larger “Amphitrite” series. Orca is a fine example of the type. Over 180 were built and most are still traveling around the globe. The Amphora model is a 37.5 foot center cockpit with a 12’8” beam which allows for generous space below with berths for 7, tons of storage space, full galley, full-sized navigation desk, and one the easiest engine accesses in the industry. Headroom through the boat is over 6’2 throughout the boat and is nearly seven feet in some areas. In the last ten years, Orca’s current owners have undertaken a methodical refit including replacing standing rigging, running rigging, engine work, deck work, mainsheet blocks and traveler, rebuilding the 3-speed main winches,

installation of new self-tailing main halyard winch, Main sail lazy jacks, replacement of through hulls that required it and canvas work. A new mizzen sail was constructed which has only been used three or four times. The entire sole of the interior was replaced with custom crafted African Mahogany and ash flooring.
